Waterpolo 2009

WATERPOLO Final Standings

Congratulations to the following teams for their outstanding perfomance in the 2009 ALPS water polo season. The gold medal winners in each category are:

Cadet Girls - Lakeside
Cadet Boys - Beacon Hill
Juvenile Girls - Viking
Juvenile Boys - Cedar Park

Here are the results for all teams that competed in ALPS waterpolo this year.

Quebec Games

The Quebec Games water polo games were played on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd at the DDO pool. The top teams in ALPS matched up against the top teams in NAA.

The top two teams from NAA & ALPS in each category battled it out to see who is 'the best in the west' in 2009.

Quebec Games always provides a healthy representation of the pools and athletes in the West Island, and this tournament certainly proved to be one of the best in the history of West Island Quebec Games.

Dollard Water Polo Mini-Camp - August 24-26, 2009

The DDO Mini-Camp is a great opportunity for all coaches & players to improve their skills and help their teams enjoy a high quality summer water polo program. A member of the DDO water polo community will come and train your athletes when you want, teaching players and coaches the most current skills. Camps will focus on player development and game awareness. It is open to all members of the summer pool community; there is no age limit for participants however a good swimming base is recommended. Camps will be a one- to two-hour session, pre-determined by the host pool.

The first session is free of charge; for a second, a small fee will be required. To find out your pool’s camp date, contact your Head Water Polo Coach. If your pool has not yet released their camp date, or for additional camp information please contact Justin Oliveira, the Dollard Water Polo Mini-Camp Coordinator.

The 2nd Annual NAA vs. ALPS All Star Tournament

This year, this tournament has a little twist because it will be run as a weekly series, instead of a three-day event. Also, instead of the games being held at three different venues, all of the games will be played at the Dollard Civic Centre. The best summer players from both NAA and ALPS will compete against each other in a three-game battle to see who is the best in the west.

Each pool may send one male and one female player and the athletes chosen to represent each pool must be non-winter water polo players who were born in 1994 or later. All registration information must be sent to Justin, the water polo coordinator, by Sunday, August 2, 2009.

Coaches will also vote for two fellow coaches, from their own pool or another, to represent the ALPS as the head coach of the ALPS All-Star Team. The coach with the second highest number of votes will be named as the assistant coach.

Come and check out some exciting water polo play as the stars of both associations meet up for some action!
